What is the 'Challenge List'?

Hi I’m Mel! I’m an adventurist that is constantly seeking out new experiences with my Challenge List of 400 unique experiences.

My little brother describes my Challenge List as a list where all I have ever wanted to do comes true. I would almost say that he is right, they are experiences that I have always said that I wanted to do. I decided to stop making excuses and that I needed to go out and do what I have always dreamed about achieving.

Once I started writing the list I couldn’t stop, I realised that there were so many things that I was holding back on and making excuses that I didn’t have the time to complete them or couldn’t spare any money for them. Once I started crossing them off it became a passion to get more ticked off, I have loved every moment of each experience and the unique challenges that they all brought.

All are challenging in their own way, some are easier than others. Which includes making a gingerbread house, having a water fight, making a snow angel, planting a tree or getting an “Elf on the Shelf”. On the other hand, some are more time consuming – like folding 1000 origami cranes, reading all of the Harry Potter books or solving a Rubik’s Cube. Then there are the all-out challenges, such as walking 50,000 steps in 24 hours, setting a Guinness World Record or reading the Game of Thrones book series. About me

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You are on your own. You know what you know. And only you’ll decide where to go.”

Hi my name is Mel, something that you may notice about me is that I always wear a smile :) I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, I am currently not using my degree and instead travelling and learning through experiences. I am currently working on and off as an early years educator and when I'm not, you'll find me in the Daintree Rainforest. I enjoy blogging about all the experiences that I have achieved.

I live in Melbourne most of the time, if not travelling and exploring then working in the Daintree Rainforest, I like to hop around a bit. I am the oldest of six children and the youngest is four years old. I love spending time with my family. We have a family dog named Freddie.

When I’m not blogging, working or volunteering, I love to challenge myself with new experiences, spend time with my family and friends, read books, explore, take photos, cook yummy foods and I am passionate about environmental sustainability!

When I originally started writing the Challenge List I just wanted to get out into the world, to explore the unknown and live every moment. The original Challenge List has 400 experiences that I want to achieve and currently I have 25 left... I am very close to finishing which I am stoked about as its definitely been a journey to get this far. I started writing Challenge LIst 2.0 because there is still so much of life to experience and why stop at one list. I am putting all my energy into finishing the original Challenge List before I start on the Challenge List 2.0. I hope to inspire you reading this as well, sometimes you just need that spark of inspiration...
