Where?
Lets Go Fest, Mornington Racecourse
Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
Well, snakes are quite an elusive creature in Australia where we are taught from a young age about snake awareness. Having the opportunity to hold one in a safe environment is a good opportunity to get up close to a snake.
Description:
When I attended Lets Go Fest between walking around some of the acts we found an area where Snake Busters were set up and people attending the event could hold a snake. So upon seeing that they had snakes at the festival, I decided that it would be time to hold a snake. After getting a snake off one of the snake keepers, they draped it over my neck.
The snake was cool on my neck and after some time I realised that the snake was actually heavier to hold than I would have imagined. It was a great opportunity to get up close to this beauty of a snake.
Would I do it again?
Yeah, I would do it again through another reputable snake handler.
Highlight:
Just getting the opportunity to hold the snake.
Cost:
Free as part of the entry admission of the Lets Go Fest.
I held another snake at a local show with Wild Action and they were fantastic, so knowledgeable about everything wild!
Further information:
Please ensure that you are aware of snake dangers and a reminder if they are in the wild please just leave them alone, that is their home. If you would like to hold a snake, then there are pop up events that are around the place at various shows, fairs, festivals and markets.
Get in contact with Wild Action where they can come to you or you can find out more about where they will be next.
Tell me, would you hold a snake?
