Where?
Melbourne newsagency
Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
They have a certain appeal to them because you can pay $1 and get an instant cash back. They are something that my family usually give as a present to each other so I decided I wanted to try my luck on some myself and win something back from them!
Description:
These scratchies purchased from a local newsagency, there were so many different choices there are scratchies that can be bought for $1, $2, $4, $5, $10, $15 and $20. With rolls of scratchies that NEVER seemed to end I chose the $1 scratchies so that I could purchase more tickets in total and in the end I got 10.
When I scratched them off I found that I had four winning scratchies, three cards had won $1 and one card had won $2. This meant that I won $5 so I got half my money back from what I paid for all the tickets.
Something to consider:
- The odds of winning instant lotteries (otherwise known as instant scratch-its) is 1 in 1,250,000 on a $2 instant scratch-it. Although the actual odds do change depending on the game played, this is according to the NSW government.
Would I do it again?
This is something that I would do again BUT I probably wouldn’t do this too often as there isn’t a need for it. Although it can be used as a stuffing filler or a nice gift in a card for someones birthday.
REMEMBER please bet responsibly!!
Highlight:
At the same time I bought five scratchies for a friend for her birthday and she said that she won $6 from them, which was a nice little bonus gift for her.
Cost:
The scratchies cost $10 for myself and $5 for my friends birthday scratchies.
Further information:
Do some research or ask the cashier about some advice on what tickets they would recommed purchasing as they would know best.
Another thing to note is you need to be 18 years or older to buy a ticket.
The main thing is to to bet responsibly!
