Date achieved:
Sunday 22nd September 2019
Where?
Melbourne Showgrounds, Australia
Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
I have seen Henna tattoos as something displayed online on social media and they have the incredibly meticulous designs and I wanted to experience getting such a beautiful tattoo temporarily.
Description:
During the September school holidays my family with 13 of us including my siblings, grandparents, auntie and uncle and cosuins. Went on the train together to be transported back into being big children for the day at The Royal Melbourne Show. This is one of the most magical days with rides, showbags (have to get the bertie beetle show bag – everytime), entertainment with magic shows, stunt shows, cooking demonstrations, free giveaways, farm animal displays, taste testers, arcade games, fireworks, eating scones from the Country Womans Association and much, much more.
During the day when I was walking around with my cousins we found that there was Henna tattoo stall and we decided that later that night while we were waiting for the firework display we would get a Henna tattoo.
Later that night my cousin and I headed back to the stall and we spent at least 15 minutes just deciding on the design to pick, there were just so many!
In the end I chose one and there was a little bit of a wait, once it was getting applied it really didnt take that long.
VIDEO
After my cousin and I had both finished getting our Henna tattoos applied we were able to leave the stall but had to return in 15 minutes to get lemon juice applied as its some sort of setter.
When we went back we were told to not wash it for the rest of the night as that means it has a better chance of setting and staying on longer.
The finished design was incredible I absolutely loved it!!! <3
Would I do it again?
For sure!!! It was incredibly beautiful and I loved it, it was a reminder of the day at the Royal Melbourne Show, it was reasonably priced and it lasted few weeks.
Highlight:
Getting to share this experience with my cousin made it even more special as we were constantly sending each other pictures with updates and what people were saying about them.
Cost:
The total cost for mine was $25 which is reasonable considering how big the Henna tattoo is and quickly they were able to apply it.
Further information:
Be sure to choose a place that you trust to do your Henna and do your research, just to be on the side of caution.
Listen to the instructions they give you as that will help it last even longer!
Henna is actually a plant, using Henna for body art is a practice that is several centuries old or could be even older. It’s origins come from ancient Egypt and India and the Henna tattoo is used for religious ceremonies, weddings and for body art. Find out more here.
