365. Buy a Tattslotto ticket

Where?

Melbourne newsagency

Why is this experience on the Challenge List?

This is something that I remember doing when I was little with my grandfather he would get all the grandchildren to pick seven numbers each. As this was something that he did on a regular basis it was a way for him to spend time with his grandchildren and pick funny numbers. I wanted to have a go this myself and buy a Tattslotto ticket and who knows I could even win some money with it…

Description:

I purchased the ticket from my local newsagency and when I got up to the counter I was so confused their was so many options, in the end I just had the cashier help me. I got a Super Quickpick which is 18 games where the machine automatically picks the numbers. The jackpot for this particular draw was $80,000,000.00 which is a pretty great jackpot to win.

Two days later the Powerball numbers were called:
Main numbers – 14, 21, 16, 12, 1, 29, 27   Powerball number – 7
My numbers came up but not enough to win anything.

Some things to consider:

  • According to the Las Vegas – Review Journal; you are more likely to be struck by lightning in your lifetime (1 in 12,000) than win the lottery (roughly 1 in 258.9 million). They also list 20 other things you are more likely to do than win the lottery…
  • The odds of winning Powerball is 1 in 134,490,400 & Oz Lotto is 1 in 45,379,620 & Lotto is 1 in 8,145,060 according to the NSW government.

Would I do it again?

I would do it again BUT I would probably only do this once a year as I don’t feel like it’s necessary to do it anymore than that.

REMEMBER please bet responsibly!!

Highlight:

Checking over the numbers and seeing if any of them match.

When I bought it I also bought one for my friend as she was working and didn’t finish until the newsgency closed. So I bought two tickets and I got her to choose the ticket she wanted as they were both the same – we both agreed if either of us won the major prize then we would share it. When the results came out it turned out she had won $32 (basically paid back the ticket and a little more) and my ticket didn’t win anything. In a way, I felt like it was a pay it forward moment because she wouldn’t had the opportunity to buy the ticket otherwise and she got that winning feeling!!

Cost:

$21.80 for the one ticket that had 18 lines on it.

Further information:

There are so many ways to do it, as you can pick your own numbers or do a quick pick. Then there are different amounts to be won with the jackpots, there is a few things to think about before buying a ticket.

Another thing to note is you need to be 18 years or older to buy a ticket.

The main thing is to to bet responsibly!
