Why is this experience on the Challenge List?

I remember hearing on the news about children that have been diagnosed with a terminal illness so the Make-a-wish foundation steps in and grants them any wish they want. I've heard children being in movies, being Batman for the day and travelling to far away lands. All of this isn't possible without volunteers or people donating their money. I put this Challenge on the list to specifically help a child that wanted their special wish to be granted.

Description:

To be honest, this Challenge wasn't actually one that I could just tick off, I found it difficult due to how I wanted to achieve this Challenge. My original idea was to choose a child's wish and specifically donate to that particular wish. Unfortunately due to privacy with the children the company does not specifically tell you directly which child you are funding. Which I understand but I just wanted to know the wish that I was supporting and if their wish was granted.

I rung to see if there was anyway I could just find out the wish but again there wasnt any way they would tell me. So I waited for many years as I was trying to think of way to directly impact and sponsor a wish.

Then one day I went on the website and there was a fundraiser to support 34 children and their unique wishes.

I took this as my opportunity to support the Make-a-wish foundation as that I may not ever exactly know which wish my money is supporting specifically supporting but at least I know that I suported one of these 34 children that have an urgent wish.

I chose to donate $500 towards their campaign in their efforts to raise $120,000 by the end October for those 34 children.

Would I do it again?

I think the Make-a-wish foundation is a beautiful foundation that really can make some magic happen for those children that are selected. I would definitely donate again, these children definitely deserve to know the power of people that can make wishes really come true!

Highlight:

Knowing that I made a difference towards the lives of these 34 children was enough for me. As that wish is something that they deserve and it can bring magic and memorable moments to their own lives.

Cost:

I chose to spend $500 but I could have donated any amount, I just wanted to know it was making a difference and hopefully it could spread across the 34 children.

Further information:

Since completing this Challenge I have found out that they have launched 'Wish Finder' which allows you to indiviually choose a wish to specifically donate towards.
