Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
I orignally found out about this website when I was in high school when we were learning about synonyms but we only stayed on the website for a about 30 minutes. I later rediscovered this website and decided that I wanted to donate more rice, so I set the goal for 10,000.
Description:
The way that Free Rice works is that every question that is answered correctly donates 10 grains of rice so to donate 10,000 grains of rice I needed to answer 1,000 questions. I started out by doing this on the website while I was at home doing 10-20 minutes before I went to bed, in the car on roadtrips when I was a passenger, on the train or just any other time I thought about doing it. I managed to get to 1,000 pretty quickly.
It took another few months before I was able to get through the entire 1,000 questions and I learnt various synonyms for quite a LOT of words. It was a really rewarding feeling when I finished and had donated the 10,000 grains of rice!!
Would I do it again?
Now that I know that they have updated their website and have an app with various categories, I definitely want to do it again. My next goal with this challenge is to donate 1,000,000 grains of rice.
I would recommend anyone to do this challenge as it can be done anywhere, its free and can make a real difference to someones life.
Highlight:
Knowing that I have made a difference to help feed people rice and help with other projects through the World Food Programme, which they help in over 80 countries. To know that I donated 10,000 grains and it didn’t cost a cent for me is amazing.
Cost:
It doesn’t cost anything!! Thats the beauty of this programme it is completely free and only takes time.

The Free Rice website is really easy to use and can be found here. They have updated the website and its even easier to use, they have various categories (currently 26 topics) to choose from which means you can donate rice even easier now.
