Where?
Singapore zoo
Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
In Australia, as we only have Panda’s at the Adelaide Zoo and I hadn’t yet made it there, the only Pandas that I had seen were on TV or in books. So I made it a Challenge, to see one up close and don’t they just look like they are giant fluffy teddy bears.
Description:
I was so excited to be going to the Singapore Zoo because they had Pandas! There were many other animals but the Panda was the one that I was most excited to see but when I arrived one Panda was asleep and the other had its back turned to me up the very top at the furthest point away from the people. I was a bit disappointed after travelling so far and coming so close to meeting one but without really being able to see a panda properly.
After seeing the Pandas from a distance but not being overly excited about what I actually saw. We walked around the rest of the zoo and went back to the Pandas near closing time and this is what we found. One of the Pandas was awake, sitting up and EATING!!! Finally, I got to see some Panda action.
The Panda just looked like a giant fluffy teddy bear, that I could give a big squeeze bear cuddle to but I sufficed with a picture of the Panda.
A few years later in December 2019, I went back to Singapore Zoo and Zoo Negara in Malaysia and got to see more Pandas. These photos below are what I captured of the beautiful Pandas. Full credit to my sister for capturing the bottom photo. I think its fair to say that I had a better camera and the quality of the images improved drastically, the detail in the Pandas expressions is phenomenal.
Would I do it again?
Absolutely!! I love Pandas, I would have to say they would be one of my favourite animals, they are just gorgeous.
Highlight:
Capturing those above beautiful photos of the Pandas, I feel like it captured their personality in that brief moment that we exchanged together.
Cost:
Singapore Zoo entrance cost was $45.
Adelaide Zoo in Australia, admission was $39.
Zoo Negara in Malaysia, tickets were $15.
Further information:
Pandas are adorable so in saying that I’m just gonna leave this video here for you, to watch, now…
Also, I believe what got me interested in Pandas initially when I was younger was this video. Never say no to Panda!
