Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
I’ve been playing Monoply since I could remember whether it was Monoply Junior or a specialist version like Monoply Littlest Pet Shop, Monoply Here and Now: The world edition, Monoply Revolution, Monoply: Game of Thrones, Monoply: Cheaters edition. With all of those Monoply games that I have played not many have actually been finihsed as getting to the end of the game is quite difficult, when I was younger and playing with my sister and cousins it would usually end with the money flying. This is why its something that I want to achieve, playing Monoply from start to finish.
Description:
I decided for this challenge I wanted to get a new version on Monoply to play, so I found Monoply: Game of Thrones edition at my local shop. My sister and myself set up the game and started playing on the Sunday, we played every night and I even came home on lunch breaks from work to play.
I played the game as I landed on each place I would buy it, even if that meant mortgaing a property to but another one. My sister was a little more conservative than I was. In the end I was stuck in a mortgage cycle and I kept landing on my sisters properties.
In the end the game finished on the Friday night and took about 11 hours to complete!! All my properties were mortgaged in the end, yep all of them and all my money disappeared. Whereas my sister had a stack of money and none of her properties mortgaged. I guess you can say she was the winner!!
This is one Monoply game that didn’t end with the money flying around the room!
Would I do it again?
Yes, its great having that sense of achievement of working out who is the clear winner. It would be good next time to play with more than two people to see if that makes the game longer and more of a challenge.
I have just found out that there is a Monoply game that is called Monoply: Longest game ever with the tag line being “And you thought the original took forever!”. This partiular game looks incredible and would literally take FOREVER it has 96 squares instead of the usual 40 and only one dice (so no double rolls), talk about FOREVER!
Highlight:
I owned all the dark blue and greens, having those is like having all the glory, even if I didn’t win, at least I could claim that!
Also having that sense of achievement that I was actually able to play a game start to finish.
Cost:
The average price of a Monoply game can be $50 dollars for a new specialist game but the original game can usually be bought for $20.
Further information:
Monoply was first developed in 1933 and they have 1144 different versions, so theres plenty to choose from.
The thing about Monoply is you have to be careful where you play it because if its being played till the end it cannot be packed up.
