Date achieved:
Started on Thursday 24th January 2019 its a living document that will always be added to
Where?
Home but the inspiration comes from every experience that I have achieved
Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
To be honest I’ve never been someone that looks at a particular blog on a regular basis but I do use blog as a way of finding information quickly for some of my experiences, inspiration or receipes. Therefore I have respect for people that can sit there at a computer and pour their heart and soul into this online page that defines them.
The reason why I want to do a blog is probably not the same reason as most, I literally just want to inspire people!! I have learnt so much from the experiences that I have achieved from the Challenge List that I wanted to share with others that sometimes the best things in life come in small sizes. Some of my experiences are free or only take 1 minute but its from those experiences its the things that you learn and have that sense of achievement afterwards that you takeaway and will inspire you to achieve more.
Description:
I started the blog by purchasing the domain name and securing that, that was on the 24th January 2019. When I set up WordPress I then got stuck and left it for four months until I was on my Easter break on a holiday in Queensland where I finally figured out how to do the basics of the website construction and I managed to get every item of the Challenge List over to the website, create the pages for the menu and all the categories for the Challenge List.
Then I wasn’t sure where to go next so I left it for another five moths until I started tweeking some of the pages. Then I left it for another three months until I was on a plane ride to Singapore and I decided to start filling in some of the information on a word document and whilst on that holiday I wrote out five experiences. Then I didnt touch it again for a few months where I was slowly chipping away at it. Now in July 2020 I have decided that I need to just get the blog out in the public, as the original idea was to wait until every experience that had been achieved was written about. That was going to take a REALLY long time, if I wanted to do that I should have done it at the start. So currently this is the reason why I am writing this post so that I can have some things written about in each category.
So what I have learnt from this experience is that blogging isn’t that easy, you need to be commited and you need to post regularly.
Would I do it again?
I wouldn’t just do it again, I want to keep doing it even for Challenge List 2.0 as I can continue to use this as a platform to inspire people from all over the world. I know that even in my local community there are many people that have written their own Challenge Lists and seeing them achieve their goals is an incredible experience so to do this on a global scale that would be pure amazement!
Highlight:
Hearing everyones thoughts on what the blog looks like, its like they are looking at a part of me and reading it in my thoughts. I love sharing this Challenge List it is something I am so proud of and I just want the world to hear about it so they can be inspired by the everyday adventures.
Also putting a quote on every category and menu pages, quotes are beautiful and for me it added to the story of the Challenge List and I love it <3
Cost:
This is interesting, so when I started I read that blogs can be set up for under $100 but I would say that its been a bit more than that (unfortunately).
So far I have currently paid:
$13 = the domain name (purchase the web address) initally and then an annual price of $19
$65 = site ground hosting initally and then annual price of $197
$60 = WordPress pro as an annual cost
There are plenty of plugins that you can get that are free and are very useful.
Please note prices may vary depending on currency and the packs you choose but this is what I have paid for my blog.
Further information:
I think a blog is a great way for anyone to express themselves and essentially keep an electronic diary of what they want to write about.
Blogging is not a get rich, quick scheme. Everything that I have achieved on my list I have paid for myself, I worked really hard (working four jobs at once) but I was determined to achieve my goals that I have set out to originally achieve and it made me accountable in ticking them off.
