Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
This was an idea that I saw on Pinterest, using various coloured paint samples to create this geometric collage. It creates a beautiful effect and I just wanted to try it for myself.
Description:
After seeing the idea on Pinterest, I went down the street and purchased the picture frame, making sure that I chose one that had the three empty picture slots.
When I was starting I chose the pieces of fruit that I wanted to create and Googled “cartoon apple” and then the same for the others. I printed them off and cut them randomly. At this stage it just looked like a jumbled jigsaw, I then stuck the coloured pieces on top of the printout and proceeded to glue it.
I glued it on to the frame, piecing the apple back together, then I did the same for the banana and pear. A lot of the process is about choosing the colour tones that you want to be seen, as some can be neutral and some can stand out. Play around with the tones and just have some fun with it!
Would I do it again?
I have done it again, its fun just deciding on the shapes, organising it all and playing around with the different colour schemes.
With this collage, I just wanted to blend the colours with the various light and dark shades and then present it with a black border. Literally, the possibilities are endless…
Highlight:
After finishing the apple, I was impressed to see how it turned out because of the effect of the various colour tones mixed well together.
Cost:
The picture frame was $10 from The Reject Shop, the paint samples were free. The best part is it’s such a simple and affordable piece it makes it an aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Further information:
Anything can be made into a geometric collage but the best things are items that have similar colour tones such as fruits and vegetables.
