Why is this experience on the Challenge List?
I have seen some AMAZING Lego structures at shops and particularly when I was at Legoland in Malaysia. After witnessing what the humble brick can make, I wanted to build a Lego structure too.
Description:
When I was in the gift shop at Legoland Malaysia I found the Sydney Architecture build, I chose this particular build as it was the only Australian build that they offered and I wanted it to be significant as I purchased it at Legoland.
The build was relatively straightforward (even if I did put a few pieces backwards… shhh, never mind that) and with 361 pieces I was able to put it all together in roughly 45 minutes.
The finished product represents Sydney so well with the colours and the shapes that have that familiarity of the city of Sydney.
Would I do it again?
Yes!! Building with Lego is quite a lot of fun, with my younger siblings I usually end up playing with it quite a bit and we just make our own creations.
Next time I would love to build the Hogwarts castle out of Lego.
Highlight:
Getting to create such an iconic part of Australia out of Lego and a place that holds memories to me. As with the Harbour Bridge; I have walked under it across it and over the top of it, gone in a boat under it, caught a train AND been in a car to go across the bridge. The Opera House I’ve eaten dinner and seen a theatre show inside of it. The Westfield building I have walked around the outside of it while being 268m above ground level.
Cost:
As I purchased the kit in Malaysia at Legoland I cannot remember exactly the cost but it was similar to what I would have paid for in Australia which was $60. There are so many different types of Lego structures that they range from $15 or more, it depends on what design you are looking for.
Further information:
This particular Lego build has been retired so it is no longer available but there are plenty of other Lego builds on their website that can still be accessed.
Also, make sure you follow the instructions exactly how it is in the booklet as I didn’t quite exactly (only cause of the angles it was on) and how to go back a few steps to fix it.
